Composing Impactful Category Images

Our creative team at STUDIO_M recently had the opportunity to work on an exciting project for Dutch retail chain Blokker, creating images for their website. Each product category on Blokker’s site needed a compelling image featuring a composition of several products from that category. This project was a collaborative effort with stylist Inès Beeftink and the creative minds at Bureau Mirage. Our goal was to produce clean and clear images that effectively communicated each category to the website’s visitors, enhancing their shopping experience.

Styling and Lighting: Key to Success

Stylist Inès Beeftink was instrumental in managing the extensive array of products and ensuring the styling was impeccable. Her expertise in arranging products beautifully and efficiently helped us create visually appealing compositions. One of the main challenges was fitting the products within the screen real estate of the website while maintaining a sophisticated and well-lit look. We used precise lighting techniques to highlight each product’s features, ensuring they looked their best and conveyed the right message.

Overcoming Challenges and Achieving Clarity

The process of making the products fit perfectly on the website required meticulous planning and attention to detail. The collaborative effort with art director Sandro Velez ensured that our creative vision aligned with Blokker’s branding and functional needs. Through careful retouching and composition, we achieved a clean, uncluttered look for each category image. The final images were not only visually appealing but also clearly communicated the essence of each product category, providing Blokker’s online customers with an enhanced and enjoyable shopping experience.
